Case Introduction

★ Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). 74 yrs old man, exudative Age related macular degeneration for 12 years. Before treatment VA (visual acuity) =20/800; After 40 treatments VA=20/30

★ Macular hole stage one. 65 yrs old woman, left eye epiretinal membrane with macular hole stage 1.

	Before treatment VA=20/40
	After 10 treatments VA=20/25

★ Optic Neuropathy. 60 yrs old man, optic neuropathy for 9 years Before treatment VA=0.3 After 10 treatments VA=0.5

★ Retinitis pigmentosa(RP). 39 yrs old woman, RP for 10 years.

Hereditary RP can not be completely cured, and usually tends to deteriorate. Active and continuous treatments can improve eye sight and delay deterioration.

Uveitis:

Mr. C, 43 years old, affected by iritis in his left eye for two years. The situation is getting worse with the relapses. He had hypopyon in the latest relapses and treated with steroid subconjunctival injection. When he came to our Institute, the inflammation was still affecting his left eye. His naked eye sight was 0.2, unable to rectify. Through eye examination, the uveal tract has affected by the disease and caused the choroiditis and retinal periphlebitis. ( See photo 1)

After six series of Chinese traditional treatment, his naked eye sight rose to 0.8, most of the inflammation disappeared. ( See photo 2).

★ Uveitis-1 29 yrs old woman, glaucoma and retina detachment due to serious uveitis. Chinese therapy began four months after surgery.

Before treatment VA=0.1;
after 5 treatments VA=0.6;

Almost all of symptoms disappeared.

Oculomotor nerve lesions

Mr. L, 51 years old, after caught cold for four days, felt left eye swollen, some double imaging and light headed. During his visit to us, he was found external strabismus on his left eye with difficulties to move towards right and upright direction. He was diagnosed with slight numbness of Oculomotor nerve inferior branch. Chinese medical examination found reddened tongue with yellow tongue coating and floating pulse.

He was treated with oral Chinese medicine to promote the blood circulation, and dissipate toxin. After three days, the patient felt 70-80% improvement on the symptoms. Additional acupunctures combined with the medicine were provided. The double imaging disappeared after two sessions of acupunctures. One more session of acupuncture applied to reinforce the positive result. The condition has been stable after three years since.

There are other cases for cure of Oculomotor nerve lesions caused indirectly by external injury or of face tic through Chinese medicine and acupuncture. The earlier to seek medical treatment, the faster the cures will be. Some patients missed the best chance for recovery since they were told that the problem would go away by itself and came to us a few years after the symptoms were first found. Some patients can not achieve the best result due to lack of commitment to the treatment.
